“Learning how to love is the goal and the purpose of spiritual life — not learning how to develop psychic powers, not learning how to bow, chant, do yoga, or even meditate, but learning to love. Love is the truth. Love is the light.” – Lama Surya Das
The word ‘love’ covers a wide range of feelings. You can love your family with a deep rooted sort of love, the kind that you feel in your bones. It feels as constant as the seasons and as warm as the sun. You can love your friends with a gentle sweeping sort of love. It washes over you in strong, little waves when you’re near them and are just as powerful when they are far, far away. You can love your partner with a slow burning love, this can be the most intoxicating of all loves as it fills you with a gleeful headiness and overwhelming sense of lightness like drinking a fine wine. All of these loves are pure and true to those who feel them. Love cannot be diminished based on what type it is or who it’s for.
“Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.” – Robert A. Heinlein, Stranger in a Strange Land
So very often we take love for granted and forget to give love as well as receive it. This February make it your goal to give as much love as you can in any way possible. Tell those you care for that you love them. Show them your love in small ways whether it’s a simple text, a good hug, a kiss, or a small gift. Spread out your love and see how it is returned to you. We at the Shining Beautiful Series send you our love and wish you all the love you deserve, be it from those you know with love for you or from those who love you for only a moment.
